Field Hockey Nova Scotia hosts a number of opportunities for juniors to play each year from entry level programs for new players, skill clinics designed to develop specific skills and build interest in indoor and outdoor programs, summer programs and leagues, and junior high and high school leagues.

Nancy Tokaryk Memorial Field Hockey Tournament

The Nancy Tokarkyk Memorial Field Hockey Tournament is a junior high boys and girls indoor tournament that takes place at Armbrae Academy annually in the Spring. The tournament is open to junior highs across Nova Scotia to compete and expereience indoor field hockey at a weekend tournament.

The Nancy Tokaryk Memorial Field Hockey Tournaments commemorate the contributions Nancy made the sport of Field Hockey in Nova Scotia. Nancy played field hockey at the junior high and high school level, for the Nova Scotia Canada Games team, Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia Senior and Masters Teams, coached and officiated at the school, varsity and provincial level. In 1995, Nancy and her 1975 Canadian National Seniors Championship winning teammates were inaugurated into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. Nancy passed away in June, 2008 in a tragic car accident in Ottawa. This tournament is organized by her sister, Sue Beazley, in her memory.

The Nancy Tokaryk Memorial Trust Fund was established to commemorate Nancy’s contribution to the sport of women’s field hockey, her personal leadership and student mentorship, and volunteer community service. Metro High School Indoor Field Hockey League

The Metro High School Indoor Field Hockey League is run in conjunction with the high schools in the Halifax area every Spring. The high school league has been in operation since the 1980s and comprises about 14 high schools around Halifax Regional Municipality.

Women’s Development Program

Field Hockey Nova Scotia runs a summer long development program and league at Saint Mary’s University. This program is targeted at women of any ages who are looking to learn new skills, tactics, and rules of outdoor field hockey through coached practices and game play.
